Cardiac & Pulmonary Wellness Program

Are you afraid to exercise because you have been diagnosed with heart disease? Are you at risk for heart disease?  If the answer is yes- then don't miss out on an innovative cardiac & pulmonary wellness program offered by Legacy Heart Institute and Scappoose Fitness Center.

This is a medically supervised conditioning and maintenance program.  It offers exercise classes to build strength, endurance, and confidence to individuals with documented heart disease, or those at risk for its development.  These classes are supervised and monitored by a certified Cardiac Rehabilitation team consisting of registered nurse, exercise specialist, and other highly qualified, certified trainers.  The classes provide independence for the participant, along with the benefit of having health care professionals close at hand for questions and monitoring.

Program Components

* Exercise training will help you learn how to exercise safely, strengthen your muscles, and improve your stamina.

* Your exercise plan will be based on your individual ability, needs and interests.

* Education, counseling, and training will help you understand your heart condition and find ways to reduce your risk of future heart problems.

The Cardiac Rehabilitation team will help you learn how to cope with the stress of adjusting to a new lifestyle and to deal with your fears about the future.

The cardiac & Pulmonary Wellness Program often takes place in groups.  However, each individual's plan is based on his or her specific risk factors and special needs.

Cardiac Wellness can benefit individuals with coronary risk factors or patients who have had:

* Heart Attack

* Heart Surgery

* Chest Pain

* Cardiac interventions such as angioplasty or stent placements

Taking The First Step

Clients must have physician approval to participate in the Cardiac & Pulmonary Wellness Program.  From there, program staff will develop an exercise prescription specific to each client.  The program is not covered by insurance.
